In accordance with the agreement made between UGETAM and IETT, the training and certification of all drivers, especially IETT employees, will be provided. In the academy to be established, all transportation professionals throughout the country will be trained in time.
IETT and UGETAM, affiliates of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, started to work on the establishment of Transportation Academy in order to provide theoretical and practical trainings to the drivers serving in the field of public transportation, and to implement measurement, evaluation and certification programs.
Between IETT and UGETAM, which makes sustainability one of its main objectives in public transportation 'TRANSPORTATION ACADEMY' agreement was reached in order to sign a protocol.
In the academy which will be established in Arnavutköy district, public transportation certificate trainings, runway trainings, simulator driving trainings, distance education, mobile learning trainings, mental health center therapy applications, community service trainings will be provided.
The trainings to be provided at the Transportation Academy aim to train more conscious drivers in traffic, develop a culture of public transportation, further reduce the number of accidents and provide fuel savings. In addition to training and certifying the drivers, the Academy also aims to develop transportation technologies, to create new transportation policies to reduce traffic congestion, and thus to reduce emissions and less air pollution.
In the first stage, IETT, Bus AŞ and Private Public Bus drivers will be trained. In the second stage, it is aimed to organize certification programs for minibus and taxi drivers, drivers of vehicles carrying local cargo and excavation, new candidate drivers, field drivers and motorcycle drivers. In the last stage, it is planned to serve public transport drivers outside of Istanbul, and drivers carrying long-distance and international passengers.
WHAT IS UGETAM?
Established by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality in 1996, Istanbul Applied Gas and Energy Technologies Research Engineering Industry Trade Corporation (UGETAM) continues its activities in the field of training, certification, testing and inspection services. UGETAM is authorized by the Vocational Qualifications Authority (MYK) with the certificate obtained from the Turkish Accreditation Agency (TÜRKAK).
