Mayor İmamoğlu Announces Opening Date of Kabataş Mahmutbey Metro Line; İBB President Ekrem İmamoğlu spoke at the completion ceremony of the 19 kilometer-long Kabataş-Mahmutbey Metro Line tunnel. Emamoglu stressed that the line, which will serve one thousand people in one direction, will provide great benefit in public transportation, “Unfortunately, some more time is needed due to the historical findings encountered in the excavations here in Kabatas-Besiktas-Mecidiyekoy line. Hopefully, we will open our Mecidiyeköy-Mahmutbey line in the first quarter of next year. ”
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) President Ekrem Imamoglu, Kabatas-Mahmutbey Metro Line tunnel completion ceremony attended. Imamoglu was accompanied by Mayor of Besiktas Riza Akpolat and IMM senior management. At the ceremony held at Fulya Stop, while Imamoglu was speaking, the excavation machine called TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine), which was used to dig the tunnel, was simultaneously removed from the underground. Emamoglu emphasized that the line is very valuable and said, “This place has been operated from the beginning with a correct business plan and financial plan and it has been reported to us as an example metro line. My colleagues and the contractor firms here work harmoniously to speed up the process. We met to witness the last moment of TBM working between Kabataş and Fulya. The value that technology has added to difficult cities like us is very, very valuable. ”
“MECİDİYEKÖY-MAHMUTBEY DEPARTMENT WILL BE IN SERVICE FOR THE FUTURE YEAR”
Stating that the line consists of 2 sections, İmamoğlu said, “We have Kabataş-Beşiktaş-Mecidiyeköy line. We also have a Mecidiyeköy-Mahmutbey line. This line has the capacity to serve 70 thousand people in one direction per hour. This line will provide great benefit in public transportation. However, Kabataş-Beşiktaş-Mecidiyeköy line unfortunately needs some more time. I hope that our Mecidiyeköy-Mahmutbey line will be in service in the first quarter of next year. However, Kabataş - Beşiktaş - Mecidiyeköy line, which we can show as the second part, takes a little more time due to the historical findings encountered especially during the excavations here. ”
TOTAL 19 STATION WILL
The total length of the Kabatas-Mahmutbey line is 24,5 kilometers. The line, consisting of 19 stations, will have a capacity of one thousand passengers in one direction 70. The line that will pass through Beyoğlu, Beşiktaş, Şişli, Kağıthane, Eyüpsultan, Gaziosmanpaşa, Esenler and Bağcılar districts; At Kabataş Station, Kabataş-Taksim Funicular Line and Kabataş-Bağcılar Tram Line will be integrated. Yenikapı-Mecidiyeköy Line will also provide integration to this line. Habibler-Edirnekapı-Topkapı Line from Karadeniz Neighborhood Station is one of the integration points. The last integration will be via Bus Station-Bağcılar-Kirazlı-Başakşehir-Olympic Metro Line from Mahmutbey Station.
