Airbus to work with GEFCO

Will Work With Airbus GEFCO; GEFCO, the world leader in multimodal supply chain solutions, signed an agreement with Airbus, the world leader in the aviation industry, to support the transition to a cleaner and environmentally friendly supply chain. With more than 30 years of expertise in reusable packaging, GEFCO replaces Airbus's disposable packaging with reusable and foldable containers. This partnership shows both companies' commitments to meet the strictest environmental standards while increasing their efficiency in the aviation industry.

Support transition to reusable packaging

Since January 2019, GEFCO has been managing the reusable packaging process designed to move to 10 assembly plants in France, Germany, Spain and the UK, from Airbus suppliers in Europe. With more than 30.000 products included in the project, Airbus plans to gradually expand its sustainable solutions to all European sites and suppliers.

The reusable packaging method will help to make the truck loading process more efficient by using collapsible boxes. In this way, Airbus will reduce the number of trucks on the roads as well as the use of single-use packages. This approach coincides with a major transformation in the aviation industry, which requires companies to continuously meet their high environmental standards while improving their logistics performance.

Provide comprehensive packaging management throughout the supply chain

Six GEFCO packaging management centers enable the sorting, collection, loading and transport of reusable packages on a daily basis. In addition, Airbus works with GEFCO's product inspection teams to train its operational teams on packaging management and the NETBOX IT system, which enables delivery updates in real time. In addition, trainings are provided to support Airbus suppliers in their transition to sustainable packaging.

GEFCO's human and technical resources offer Airbus the highest traceability standards to improve supply chain management and improve processes in the industry.
