Air Pollution Below The Boundary Values in the Metro in Istanbul; Air pollution in Istanbul is not limited to cities. The pollution under the city is also a big threat. The IMM teams, who examined some of the metro stations, showed the scared picture. The air values announced were below the limit.

HOW ARE THE MEASUREMENTS?

Following the news of air pollution in the subway that Milliyet brought to the agenda in the past months, IMM measured air quality at the Metrokent Station in Kirazlı-Başakşehir Metro, Yenikapı-Hacıosman Metro's Yenikapı Station and Üsküdar-Çekmeköy Metro Line's Çarşı Station. made. Measurements that remained below the world limit values attracted attention.

PM2.5 value was determined as 17.4 mg / m3 in the measurements at Başakşehir Metrokent Station and 10 mg / m21,3 in the platform and 3 in the wagon in PM13.2 measurements. Both values are below the limit values of the World Health Organization (WHO).

2.5 mg / m23 in the PM3 platform and 3 mg / m3 in the wagon in Yenikapı Metro Station. The maximum limit of WHO is 25mg / m3. PM10 values were measured 30,2 mg / m3 in the platform and 12 mg / m3 in the wagon.

PM2.5 value was measured as 24.5 mg / m3 at Ümraniye Çarşı Metro Station. PM10 values are also above WHO limits. PM10 measurements of the station exceeded 50 mg / m3, which was the limit, and found 58 mg / m3.

“WRONG MEASURING EVERY 6 MONTHS WRONG”

Istanbul Technical University Department of Meteorological Engineering related to measurements faculty member. Dr. Mikdat Kadıoğlu said: In the subways around the world, the air is polluted according to the weather outside. We're on the border by proportions. If no problem is said, scientific facts are denied. If necessary, keep the platforms clean with a wet mop so that the dust does not rise. It is wrong to take a measurement every six months. Continuous monitoring and critical levels should be intervened.

WHAT IS PM2.5VE?

PM2.5 refers to particles smaller than or equal to 2.5 microns in diameter. PM2.5 particles can easily pass through the nose and throat. Most of the PM10 is kept in the nose. While less than 10 microns accumulate by reaching the lung and the bronchi through the respiratory tract, 1-2 microns in diameter pass into the capillary vein. The results of the measurements in the subways were published on the website of IMM.
