The ski center in Hakkari's Merga Butan Plateau with an altitude of 2, will host the ski enthusiasts coming from home and abroad in the new season with its 800-seater chairlift and new track areas. In the center, where preparations for the winter season continue, the length of the runway, which was 4 thousand meters, was increased to 200 meters.

The ski center, which was completed with the support of the Eastern Anatolia Development Agency (DAKA) and the Special Provincial Administration, increased the track length from 200 meters to 15 meters by spending 3 million liras.

Reşit Güldal, Hakkari provincial Youth and Sports Manager, who examined the track areas, stated that they aim to host tourists from Iran and Iraq this season at the ski resort, said:

“We opened our ski center to the service of our people in 2010. Significant distances have been covered since then. In 2015, we built a ski house, cafeteria and restaurant with the contributions of the Governorship and DAKA. We increased our tracks from 250 meters to a thousand meters. Then there was a new project investment of 15 million. The final stage has also been reached. Of course, we used to host 2 thousand people here on weekends, but we aim to host 5 thousand people from now on. In addition, our Governorship of Hakkari has also made a tender for a 100-room hotel with a capacity of 50 beds for the ski center and we will start construction in the spring. This season, we will host tourists from neighboring Iran and Iraq. ”
