Transport and Infrastructure Minister M. Cahit Turhan stated that the Konya-Karaman-Mersin-Adana HT Project, which is planned to enable the transfer of cargo from Konya, Karaman and Kayseri to the Port of Mersin, will also contribute to the development of passenger transportation in the region.

Turhan, who gave information that the project, whose length is 423 kilometers, has completed the infrastructure, superstructure, electrification and station arrangements in the 102-kilometer Konya-Karaman region, said, “It is planned to complete the signaling works in 2020 and switch to HT operation, which will go at 200 kilometers per hour. With the completion of the project, the travel time on the Konya-Karaman line will decrease from 1 hour 13 minutes to 40 minutes. ” he spoke.

Turhan stated that the construction works of the 245-kilometer Karaman-Niğde (Ulukışla) -Mersin (Yenice) stage, which is the continuation of the Konya-Karaman line, is continuing in the Karaman-Ulukışla section, and that the project is expected to be completed in 2022.

Turhan stated that the project works have been completed in the 110-kilometer Ulukışla-Yenice section, and the infrastructure works have come to the completion stage in the construction of the 4rd and 3th lines, which were started in order to make the existing double line on the Adana-Mersin line with 4 lines. Minister Turhan stated that tender preparation works for the construction of the project that will connect the existing railway with Çukurova Airport are ongoing.
