IMBB Tourism Development 'Translation Signage' Application. Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) has started a new project to increase the number of tourists coming to the city and help foreign visitors. Particularly in the context of the study to be implemented in the Historic Peninsula and its vicinity, where foreign tourists are intense, temporary translation writings, which will change at certain times of the year, have started to be put on the transportation systems and orientation signs.
The first implementation of the project was launched for around 70 thousand tourists who came to Istanbul on the occasion of the 400th anniversary of China (Chinese National Holiday). Within the scope of the application made in line with the demand from the Chinese Embassy; 1 stations on the T2 and M30 rail system lines, Ortaköy A.Ş. KadıköyChinese translations have been added to Üsküdar / Bosphorus and Bosphorus Tour / Islands Line piers, 11 stops in IETT's Historical Peninsula and 56 tourist direction signs and existing signs in Rosary and Carpet museums.
The Consul General of China in Istanbul, Cui Wei also met with the citizens of his country, who spent the Chinese National Day in Istanbul, in Sultanahmet Square in October. Visiting the IMM Tourism Police Department teams, Wei said that Chinese tourists like Istanbul very much and thanked IMM for their Chinese signage and ease. Wei, who also received information about the work of IMM, visited Turkish as a common language.
2018 in China "Turkey Tourism Year" was declared, and therefore our country has experienced particularly serious influx of Chinese visitors to Istanbul. In this context, IMM participated in fairs and events in China and IMM President Mevlüt Uysal hosted Chinese journalists and social media phenomena in Istanbul.

In line with the uygulam Translation Signage ”project initiated by Istanbul with the aim of improving the tourism potential of Istanbul, IMM will continue to expand and implement the application for foreign guests who are planning to spend their important holidays and holidays in Istanbul.
According to tourism data; for example, in the Ramadan and Kurban feasts, where Arab tourists visit Istanbul more, Arabic, Persian tourists and Nevruz feast, where the Russian tourists travel, Russian translation signs will decorate the signs of Istanbul's transportation systems.
