Budimex Budownictwo and PKP Poland Railway Lines signed a contract of 324 million Euros (1.4 billion PLN) for the modernization of the Goczałkowice-Zdrój - Czechowice-Dziedzice - Zabrzeg line in Silesia. The project foresees the replacement of the 47 km railway line and the 56 km overhead line, which envisages the passenger trains to operate at 160 km / h and the freight trains to increase to 120 km / h.

Railway traffic control devices between Czechowice Dziedzice will be rebuilt and the new local control center equipped with modern systems will manage the traffic. In addition, the Vistula (between Goczałkowice and Czechowice-Dziedzice) and the other engineering structure of 22 and a bridge of more than 150 meters will also be defeated.

Within the scope of the project, the platforms of the existing stations in the Czechowice-Dziedzice section will be modernized and adapted for passengers with mobility disabilities and renovation works will be carried out at the Goczałkowice-Zdrój and Zabrzeg stops. The platforms will be equipped with modern visual information systems and monitoring system that will increase security.
