Jakarta Surabaya Railway is being implemented

Indonesia was signed two years later by the Ministry of Transport and the Japan International Cooperation Agency for the Java North Line Development Project for the implementation of the railway line between Jakarta and Surabaya, 720 km north of Java. Preparatory work for the project was initiated earlier this year by JICA and needs to be completed by the end of May 2020.

Within the scope of the project, the existing narrow line will be expanded to allow 160 km / h operation and will be modernized by eliminating new alignment and all level transitions built in urban areas.

According to the September 24 agreement, the project will be carried out in two stages: 436 km from Jakarta to Semarang, 2024 km from Semarang to Surabaya by 284.

Journey Time Will Reduce

According to the Ministry of Transport, the completion of the project will reduce the journey time to 5 and a half hours. It is estimated that approximately 8 million people travel between cities each year, and at least 12% of the Technology Evaluation and Implementation Agency's air passengers will cross the railroad.
