According to the results of the 2018 Municipality Waste Statistics Survey applied to the municipalities, it was determined that all municipalities in İzmir provide waste service. Turkey Statistical Institute (TSI), according to information given by the İzmir Regional Directorate of municipalities providing waste services in Izmir 2 million 132 thousand tons of waste was collected.
The average daily waste collected per person was calculated as 1,36 kg
The average amount of waste per capita collected in three major cities was determined as 1,28 kg for Istanbul, 1,18 kg for Ankara and 1,36 kg for Izmir.
84,7 percent of municipal waste in Izmir was sent to landfill facilities
2 percent of the 132 million 84,7 thousand tons of waste collected in the municipalities providing waste services in İzmir were sent to landfill facilities, 8,9 percent to recycling facilities and 6,5 percent to municipal dumps.
