Despite the large drop in the Metrobus accidents in 2019, IETT took additional measures on two recent accidents, making a new assessment. The Chairman of the Inspection Board was personally appointed to investigate the accidents. An expert request was requested from the Chamber of Mechanical Engineers.

It carries out serious efforts to avoid accidents occurring in the Metrobus line, which covers 7 thousand kilometers with 220 thousand trips per day and carries 1 million passengers. Following the accidents on the Metrobus line on October 6 and 8, the IETT management came together for re-evaluation. During the meeting led by IETT Deputy General Manager Hamdi Alper Kolukısa, the causes of the metrobus accidents and the measures taken were discussed. Along with the heads of the department, all the relevant managers of IETT attended the meeting.

Stating that a detailed investigation about the origin of the accidents has been initiated, Deputy General Manager Kolukısa stated that the Chairman of the Board of Inspectors was personally appointed during the administrative investigation. Kolukısa added that an expert request was requested from the Chamber of Mechanical Engineers.

During the meeting, the drivers and drivers of the previously used vehicles were also discussed. Within this framework, it was decided to reconsider the trainings provided to drivers on healthier driving and to take their shares in accidents into account.

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality stated that after the metrobus accidents, the measures were increased and the “Early Warning System” started to be implemented in order to prevent such accidents from happening again.
