The third of the Izmir Bay Festival, organized by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, was left behind with breathtaking races and colorful scenes. Organized for the third time this year, the Izmir Bay Festival brought the citizens together with the sea and sailing once again. The people of Izmir and those who came to Izmir for the festival experienced an unforgettable visual feast accompanied by the view of the Gulf decorated with colorful sails. After the completion of the races in İzmir Bay, in which approximately 400 athletes participated, the successful teams were awarded with the program held at the historical Coal Gas Factory last night. The Orchestra team became the winner of the Overall trophy, the second was Arnes, and the third was Arkas-MAT Sailing Team. Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Tunç SoyerCygnus Sailing, which consists of all women sailors, won the special prize of the race.

Speaking at the award ceremony, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Soyer stated that a very successful organization has been left behind and that they will start working to bring this festival to an international dimension from next year. President Soyer announced that another step they will take is to implement sailing activities for the children of Kadifekale as of October 15th. Stating that they will establish a sailing club with 10 children in the first stage, Soyer said, “This club will start with an optimist. Thank you very much to Mr. Bernard and Arkas. They assign their boats and coaches to it. I wish that each of these children will become a sailing coach and they will teach sailing to the children in their back quarters.” Minister Tunç SoyerHe also thanked his teammates, all of whom were female racers, for their support by participating in the race.
