Authorities think the country's advanced high-speed train network plays a key role in this record number of passengers, but is increasing the capacity of passenger trains to improve other lines. On the other hand, some of the new Fuxing high-speed trains in China State Railways are preparing to commission this year to provide travel service optimization. The authorities thus aim to shorten the travel time between some cities. For example, passengers traveling from Hami to Urumqi will use the Lanzhou-Urumqi high-speed train, which will shorten travel time by 25 minutes.
