Prepared by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Buca Subway Ministry of Transport General Directorate of Infrastructure Investments approved. The project, which takes place in İzmir's 2018 investment planning, will be a 13,5 kilometer long metro line.
After the Narlıdere Metro project, one of the biggest projects that excited the people of İzmir was Buca Metro. Tunç Soyer made a statement about the Buca Metro and said, “Our request was only a signature, and we immediately start to work with it. We will solve the necessary financing through international credit without demanding a single penny from the state budget. We aim to complete the financing negotiations in about six months, to participate in international tenders and start construction in 2020. He said we will open the subway in five years.
At the point where the project was completed and the foundation was reached, expropriation works were carried out in many places, especially in Homer Boulevard. Buca, one of the most prominent regions of İzmir in terms of transportation problems, will take a great deal of relief with the 13,5 kilometer-long metro.
The 13,5 kilometer-long and 11 station will be located between Üçyol Station and Dokuz Eylül University Tınaztepe Campus and Çamlıkule. Zafertepe, Bozyaka, General Asim Gunduz, Sirinyer, Buca Municipality, Butchers, Hasanaga Garden, Dokuz Eylul University, Buca Koop and Camlikule stations, which will start from Ucyol and consist of 11 stations, will take place. The Buca line will meet at the Üçyol Station with the second phase line between F. Altay-Bornova and the İZBAN line at Şirinyer Station. The train sets on this line will serve as driverless. Buca metro is intended to be completed in 2025.
