1 July 1926'da Cabotage Law entered into force as a national holiday declared Maritime and Cabotage Day 93. The year is celebrated with various events to be held throughout Istanbul.

EXHIBITION OF INTERESTING WASTES FROM THE SEA TA IN BEŞİKTAŞ

The event program organized by the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications, the Istanbul Governorate and the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality started to be carried out on the piers and beaches throughout the city.

WHAT IS CABOTAGE?

The cabotage privilege given by the Ottoman Empire to foreign ships in the framework of capitulations was lifted in 1923 with the Lausanne Peace Treaty. It was also accepted on 20 April 1926. The Cabotage Law came into force on July 1, 1926. possession of machinery, sailing and rowing vehicles in rivers, lakes, the Marmara sea and the straits, all land waters and in the gulf, harbor, bay and the like; With these, the right to carry goods and passengers was granted to Turkish citizens. It was stated that diving, piloting, captain, wheeling, crew and similar professions can be performed by Turkish citizens. It was accepted that foreign ships could only carry people and cargo between Turkish ports and ports of foreign countries.
