It was announced by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure that there is no work on the July 15 Martyrs Bridge and all lanes are open to traffic.
The written statement made by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure is as follows; “In some media outlets, there are reports that asphalt renewal and road maintenance and repair works have been carried out on the 15 July Martyrs Bridge as well as the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge. It has been deemed necessary to make the following statement regarding the news in question.
For the purpose of routine maintenance and repair of Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge, some strips were closed from June 27, 2019 until August 17, 2019.
There is no work on the Martyrs Bridge on July 15 and all of its lanes are open to traffic.
As part of the maintenance and repair works carried out on Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge, the existing asphalt on the bridge will be removed, and the steel deck surface will be sandblasted and the joints will be repaired. Until August 17, 4 lanes in the direction of Europe-Asia in Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge are closed to transportation, and departures and arrivals will continue from 2 lanes.
Since 2009, no maintenance and repair work has been carried out on the FSM Bridge. Maintenance and repair works, which are mandatory for the FSM Bridge, which is the lifeblood of Istanbul transportation, to provide safe, comfortable and long-term service, will be completed in the said process when schools are closed and traffic flow is not intensive. We hope that our citizens in Istanbul traffic will show patience and understanding. ”
