According to the data of the Netherlands-based company, which prepared statistics on traffic jams worldwide, Bursa ranked 2017th in the list of the most congested provinces in 68, leaving 2018 cities behind in 5 with a 92 percent relief, and ranked 160th.

In the same study, Istanbul was the 6th most congested city, while Ankara 86, İzmir 99 and Antalya were 156th.

Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Alinur Aktaş said that the relief that he described as 'small touches' and that they provided with smart intersection applications and road widening works were also registered with international data.

2018 data of the TomTom Traffic Index, created by the Dutch-based Navigation technology company TomTom to help cities around the world tackle serious mobility challenges, has been released. Drivers, city planners, car manufacturers and policies statistics and information about traffic jams in 6 countries in the 56-makers on 403 continents offering the research was given to 10 cities from Turkey. While the city with the most congested traffic is Bombay from India, Bogota from Colombia and Lima from Peru are the third most congested city. Istanbul, where the traffic congestion was determined as 2018 percent in 53, became the 6th most congested city after Moscow.

Bursa 92 step down

Ankara, where the traffic congestion was determined as 31 percent, ranks 86th in the list, while İzmir 99th and Antalya 156th. Among the Turkish cities involved in the study, the most important relief in traffic was seen in Bursa. Bursa, which ranked 2017th in the TomTom Traffic Index 68 list, fell to 5th in a year with a 160 percent reduction in traffic congestion. Bursa's traffic jam in 2018 was measured as 26 percent.

26 August best day

According to 2018 statistics, Bursa had the most comfortable day in traffic on Sunday, August 26. The lowest congestion in traffic today is measured at 8 percent. The worst day of 2018 was reflected in statistics as Friday, January 12. The highest congestion today reached 41 percent. The traffic data of the peak morning and evening peak hours were also included in the study. Accordingly, the peak density in the morning was 35 percent, and the peak in the evening was 58 percent. According to these data, Bursa residents spent an additional 30 minutes for the 11-minute journey in the morning and an additional 17 minutes in the evening.

This is just the beginning

Evaluating the announced traffic index data, Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Alinur Aktaş said that it is pleasing to see 92 declines in a year. Reminding that they were dealing with traffic as the first job after taking office in Bursa and they focused on smart junction applications and road widening studies, which they described as 'small touches', President Aktaş said, “Only these studies caused a significant relief in traffic. This relief was revealed by the data of international companies. However, these studies are just the beginning. We will see that the congestion in traffic will decrease in two years with the bridge junctions, new rail system lines, the extension of the existing rail system to certain locations, which we will implement with the transportation master plan. ”
