Four consortiums submitted bids for the second stage tender of Kazakhstan's Almaty City Light Rail Project. The winning consortium will be responsible for the detailed design and construction of the entire light rail system, including the workshop, warehouse with operational control facilities and offices.

The Almaty Light Rail System will be an 36 km line serving the 22.7 station and a warehouse in the Alatau district and will connect the main streets of Almaty. Line, Momyshuly and Tole bi streets will cross Panfilov street and Astana square and Makatayev and Zhetysuskaya streets.

In the Almaty Light Rail line, the 36 light rail vehicle will serve and transport passengers between 76.000 and 112.000 per day.
