85 Percent of Works Completed in Gaziray Suburban Line

Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality of the Republic of Turkey State Railways (TCDD), the scope of the protocol signed on May 22, 2014 Gaziray Commuter Rail Project, 85 percent of construction work has been completed.

The Metropolitan Municipality, which transformed the land train, which is the subject of the folk songs, into a high-speed train, has come to an end in the Gaziray Suburban Line Project, which is 25 kilometers long, where 16 stations will be located. In Gaziray, where a 5-kilometer test drive between Seyrantepe-Göllüce-Taşlıca was held on March 22, 2019, construction works are progressing at full speed. 150 thousand employees working in the Organized Industrial Zone; The gigantic project with a budget of 1,2 billion TL, which will carry faster, safer and more comfortably, was evaluated as the vision project of Gazi city. Gaziray, the construction of which started on February 13, 2017, will connect the city center, 6 organized industrial zones and the Small Industrial Zone. Physical realization was 25 percent in the investment, where the existing 85-kilometer suburban line will be renewed. Construction work will begin as soon as possible for the part of Gaziray that will be underground for approximately 5 kilometers. Tender preparations for the purchase of wagons to be used in the line operation will be made in the coming days.

Gaziray's city route

The studies carried out within the framework of Gaziantep Transportation Master Plan (GUAP) revealed that the existing railway line passing through Gaziantep does not allow pedestrian and vehicle circulation in areas with heavy use in the city crossing and creates a barrier effect in the region. For this reason, approximately 4 kilometers of these 5 parallel lines will be taken underground by providing on-the-road closure in order to ensure safe transportation of pedestrians and vehicles and eliminate the barrier effect in the Culture Congress Center, Zeytinli Mahallesi, Mücahitler Budak Mahallesi, Hospitals-Hotels Region crossings. In the project; Art structures such as 11 overpasses and underpasses will be built. One kilometer from Oduncular Station, which is the last stop, Gaziray Maintenance and Storage area will be built in Taşlıca, which will be approximately 1 thousand square meters at the border of the ring road. A total of 93 passengers will be transported in one set of wagons planned to be used in the project and 1000 sets of wagons will serve in the first place.
