While the beaches begin to fill up in Antalya, where the air temperature approaches 30 degrees, winter conditions and snow dominate the Taurus Mountains. Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, President Muhittin BöcekIt has been working for 2 days to open the roads of Söbüçimen Plateau in Gündoğmuş District, at an altitude of 200 meters, which were closed due to the snow up to 5 meters. The teams of the Rural Services Department are trying to clear the snow masses on the road to Söbüçimen Plateau, which is the summer pasture of the citizens engaged in animal husbandry in the region, and try to prepare them for the migration time of the Yoruks.
Metropolitan in both the center and the Taurus
Providing information about the works, Metropolitan Municipality Rural Services Officer İsa Akdemir said: “Antalya is known as a coastal and tourism city, but there are harsh winter conditions in the Taurus Mountains. Söbüçimen Plateau is the pastureland of not only Gündoğmuş, but also the nomads in Alanya and Manavgat regions. Highland road is a historical road. More snow at the peak this year. The plateau road is closed due to snow accumulations exceeding 5 meters. Our Metropolitan Mayor Muhittin Böcek gave the necessary instructions in this regard. We have been fighting for snow here for 10 days. As the metropolitan city, we will work day and night and open the way for the transhumants before the migration time," he said.
Isa Akdemir, the Metropolitan Municipality also started at the Akseki and Göktepe and Saraclı side of the plateau on the road to the snow, he said he was running the work.
