Shell & Turcas Awarded 'Think Green, Move Green' Project

Shell & Turcas, organized by the Sustainable Production and Consumption Association (SÜT-D) with the support of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, is the theme of this year's 'carbon trade and the struggle of our country with climate change', 6. Istanbul Carbon Summit, Green Think, Green Move Project with 'Low Carbon Hero' award.

At the Istanbul Carbon Summit, organized by the Sustainable Production and Consumption Association (SÜT-D) this year, the ÜT Low Carbon Hero D awards were given to organizations focusing on energy efficiency and supporting climate change. In the ceremony held at the green campus of Istanbul Technical University, Shell & Turcas was awarded the 'Low Carbon Hero' award for the 'Green Think, Green Move' project, which is the LED transformation study of conventional illuminations in fuel stations. On behalf of Shell & Turcas, Semih Genç, Retail Sales Investments Director, received the award from Sebahattin Dökmeci, Deputy General Manager, Environmental Management, Ministry of Environment and Urbanization.

In his speech at the award ceremony, Istanbul Technical University Faculty Member and SÜT-D President Prof. Dr. stated that low carbon growth is possible in the industry. Dr. Filiz Karaosmanoğlu, underlined that the studies in this area should be supported. Professor Dr. Karaosmanoglu, SÜT-D as a reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, the carbon management of organizations that successfully carry out the Low Carbon Hero Award and the awards they received this year, they said they received a record application. Professor Dr. Karaosmanoğlu also stressed that the fact that the applications are so intense is a sign that the green economy is getting more and more important in our country. The projects are evaluated according to SÜT-D's goal of gaining a culture of sustainable living and awareness of widespread carbon management.

Shell & Turcas Retail Sales Investments Director Semih Genç said the following about the award: adına In the scope of our project, in order to reduce the electricity consumption in our own station network in the low carbon journey, we have replaced the traditional illuminations in the canopy and giant emblems with LED lighting that supports low electricity consumption. As Shell & Turcas, we have implemented the Project of Canopy Lighting (LUCI) with LED on our station network. Within the project, 160 lighting in our 2650 station was replaced by LED illuminations that provide a clear light source, and fluorescent lighting in 339 giant emblems were renewed with LED lighting. As a result of the changes in the canopy and giant emblems, total carbon emissions decreased by 1,200 tons and 2.601,5 MWh energy savings were achieved.
