Shell & Turcas, at the 6th Istanbul Carbon Summit, organized by the Sustainable Production and Consumption Association (SÜT-D) with the support of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, and this year's theme is 'carbon trade and our country's fight against climate change', Think Green, Green Movement He received the 'Low Carbon Hero' award with his meat project.

At the 6th Istanbul Carbon Summit, organized by the Sustainable Production and Consumption Association (SÜT-D), organizations focusing on energy efficiency and supporting the fight against climate change were given 'Low Carbon Hero' awards. At the ceremony held in the green campus of Istanbul Technical University, Shell & Turcas was deemed worthy of the 'Low Carbon Hero' award for its 'Think Green, Move Green' project, which is the LED transformation study of conventional lighting in fuel stations. Semih Genç, Director of Retail Sales Investments, received the award on behalf of Shell & Turcas from Sebahattin Dökmeci, Deputy General Manager of Environmental Management of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization.

In his speech at the award ceremony, Istanbul Technical University Faculty Member and SÜT-D President Prof. Dr. stated that low carbon growth is possible in the industry. Dr. Filiz Karaosmanoğlu, underlined that the studies in this area should be supported. Professor Dr. Karaosmanoglu, SÜT-D as a reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, the carbon management of organizations that successfully carry out the Low Carbon Hero Award and the awards they received this year, they said they received a record application. Professor Dr. Karaosmanoğlu also stressed that the fact that the applications are so intense is a sign that the green economy is getting more and more important in our country. The projects are evaluated according to SÜT-D's goal of gaining a culture of sustainable living and awareness of widespread carbon management.

Semih Genç, Director of Retail Sales Investments at Shell & Turcas, said in a statement about the award: “In the low carbon journey within the scope of our project, we replaced the existing traditional lighting in canopies and giant emblems with LED lights that support low electricity consumption in order to reduce the electricity consumption in our own station network. Thus, as Shell & Turcas, we have implemented the LED Canopy Lighting (LUCI) project in our station network. Within the scope of the project, 160 lighting at 2650 stations were replaced with LED lighting providing a clear light source, and fluorescent lighting in 339 giant emblems were renewed with LED lighting. Within the scope of the project, as a result of the changes made in the under canopy and giant emblems, the total carbon emission was reduced by 1,200 tons and 2.601,5 MWh of energy was saved. With the transition to the use of LEDs with a lifetime of 100.000 hours in lighting, the rate of customers visiting our stations at night increased by 8 percent.
