Two Bridges Passed Guaranteed Guarantees Treasury 1,76 Payed Billion TL

2018 pass guarantees could not be achieved in Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge and Osmangazi Bridge. Treasury paid 1,76 billion lira to private companies for transition guarantees.

Transport and Infrastructure Minister Mehmet Cahit Turhan answered the question of HDP Istanbul Deputy Oya Ersoy about Yavuz Sultan Selim (YSS) and Osmangazi Bridges. According to the response sent, the number of guaranteed passes for 2018 on both bridges could not be achieved. Treasury paid 1,76 billion lira to private companies for transition guarantees.

ThornAccording to the news in; Oya Ersoy, HDP Deputy of Istanbul and Member of the Assembly Environmental Commission, gave a proposal to Mehmet Cahit Turhan, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, after the increase in the tolls of Yavuz Sultan Selim and Osmangazi Bridges, which were built for the private sector and given to companies, as of 1 January. According to the response to the question motion, the number of guaranteed passes for 2018 on both bridges could not be achieved.

YSS STAYED UNDER THE TARGET

According to Turhan's responses, in 135, 49 million 275 thousand 3 vehicles passed through the third bridge, which was built with Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) projects and the state guaranteed 2018 thousand vehicles daily (13 million 796 thousand per year).

APPROXIMATELY 5 MILLION MISSIONS IN THE OSMANGAZI BRIDGE

In 40, 14 million 600 thousand 2018 vehicles passed through the Osmangazi Bridge, which guarantees a daily pass of 9 thousand (98 million 962 thousand) annually.

MONEY FROM TREASURE

Considering that the toll fee is 3 dollars + VAT in the contract, 3 million 2018 thousand lira came out of the Treasury for the 35 million 478 thousand 89 vehicles missing in 628 on the 771rd bridge.

In Osmangazi, 35 billion 5 million 501 thousand 38 liras came out of the Treasury for 1 million 137 thousand 427 vehicles, which were missing due to the toll, which is 725 dollars + VAT per day.

WHY THE CONTRACT IS NOT TRANSLATED TO TL?

In the answer given by the minister to the question about why the tolls for bridges made with BOT are not converted to TL, the following statements were included:

“The tolls to be applied on the bridges and the highway are applied in TL with the accounts made on the exchange rate within the framework of the provisions in the application contracts for the works in question”

“This means that as the exchange rate increases, the crossings of bridges made with BOT will continue to increase. The public is exposed to exorbitant tolls while crossing bridges, and will pay more for every missing passage in the contract. Public service transportation has been transformed into an area where companies will operate and profit for decades. Every citizen living in the country pays the price. ”
