Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality announced that it will organize a tender to make the overpasses at the metrobus stations suitable for disabled access. According to the announcement, the tender for "Construction of steel and reinforced concrete pedestrian overpasses on the metrobus road across Istanbul" will be held on April 8, 2019. The company, which won the tender consisting of 39 items, is planned to make the overpasses suitable for disabled use in 450 days. The company will start working after the application projects are approved. Detailed projects will be presented to the IMM step by step.
FIRST STAGE OPENED IN 2007
The construction of the metrobus line, which is the most widely used transportation system in Istanbul, started in 2007. The first stage of 18,3 km between Topkapı-Avcılar was put into service on September 17, 2007. The second leg of the Metrobus, Zincirlikuyu, was opened on September 8, 2008 and the number of stops increased to 25. Söğütlüçeşme, the third phase of the Metrobus line, was put into service on March 3, 2009 and the two sides of Istanbul were connected. The foundation of the line of Avcılar-Beylikdüzü was laid on March 15, 2011. The line, which has a total length of 52 km and the number of stops to 44, was opened on July 19, 2012.
