Historical Opening of Istanbul Izmir Highway

The north and west junctions of the Balıkesir-Istanbul Motorway and the Akhisar-Saruhanlı junctions route will be made available today at a ceremony attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Cahit Turhan.

Turkey's largest metropolis and industrial city of Istanbul, the other major industries located between the cities of Turkey Izmit, Bursa, Balikesir, connecting to Izmir via Manisa Gebze-Orhangazi-Izmir Motorway service geographies where nearly half of the country's population giving.

Construction and operation works are ongoing with Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model. The project includes 384 kilometer, 42 kilometer connection road and 426 kilometer. In the project, the 147 mileage link road has been opened with 21 kilometers.

Two more lines of the Gebze-Orhangazi-İzmir Motorway were completed. 29 kilometer main body between the north and west junctions of Balikesir, 3,5 kilometer connecting road, including the 32,5 kilometer line, as well as the 24,5 kilometer main body on the route of Akhisar-Saruhanlı intersections, 8 kilometer line has become ready to use. The lines will be opened today with a ceremony attended by President Erdoğan and Minister Turhan.

Balıkesir-Edremit-Ayvalık line will fall to 15 minutes

The route between Istanbul and Izmir is designed to provide uninterrupted and comfortable transportation. Especially during the summer months due to holiday and tourism-related traffic, the road was experiencing excessive intensity. With the opening of the line, connecting to Balıkesir-Edremit-Ayvalık state road will be reduced to 30 minutes.

The project will relieve the traffic in Balıkesir city crossing significantly. Thus, uninterrupted transportation from Akhisar to Izmir will be possible.

City traffic will relax

By passing the 15 junction in the line, bypassing the 20 minute, the journey to Akhisar city crossing will be at 5 minutes. Especially during the summer, the current transition will be reduced and the city traffic will be relieved.

Uninterrupted access to the Akhisar-Izmir line with the start of the service of the motorway, the 1,5 hour-long journey through the current state will be reduced to an average of 50 minutes.

The two highways of highways will be transported to the service with uninterrupted access to fuel, maintenance, repair and operating costs. By ensuring the safety of life and property, the flow of traffic will be made more comfortable and safe. Thus, by eliminating the waiting, the exhaust emissions of the vehicles will be reduced.
