It was put into service with a ceremony held between the Kurtköy-Liman Junction at the Kurtköy-Akyazı Section of the Northern Marmara Motorway. Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Mehmet Cahit TURHAN, General Director of Highways Abdulkadir URALOĞLU, deputies, bureaucrats and contractor representatives attended the opening ceremony, attended by President Recep Tayyip ERDOĞAN.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister TURHAN reminded that they are at the point where three highways meet, and reminded that they opened traffic to the end of the Northern Marmara Motorway and the Istanbul-İzmir Motorway on the weekend. Stating that the project will be completed until the Akyazı Junction in 2020, TURHAN stated that with the introduction of the highway, international and intercity traffic, especially in the Northern Marmara Region, will be separated from the city traffic and there will be a significant relief in transportation.
Minister TURHAN, the Northern Marmara Motorway Kurtköy-Akyazı Section, which was opened after the ceremony, was held at 4. section of the car used for a while.
Within the scope of the opening; In the Kurtköy-Akyazı section, the sections between Kurtköy-Liman Junction with an investment amount of 476 Million Dollars and the TEM Junction of the Port Connection Road, as well as the Istanbul Park Junction in the part where the industrial connections of the Port Connection Road in the Köseler and Demirciler districts were previously realized. A total of 44,7 km of sections, including Gebze OSB Intersection, was put into service.
The connection between the North Marmara Motorway and the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge with the Gebze-Orhangazi-İzmir Motorway and Osmangazi Bridge was provided by opening the traffic between Kurtköy-Liman Junction and the Harbor Connection Road. In addition, a highway network was established between TEM Gebze Junction and TEM Highway, which is the most important highway axes of our country, Gebze-Orhangazi-İzmir Highway and North Marmara Highway.
With the introduction of Gebze OSB Intersection; Gebze district, which contains important organized industrial zones, has access to the Northern Marmara Motorway.
With the D-100 Gebze Junction, which was put into service as part of the opening, the D-100 State Road Dilovası and its surrounding settlements and industrial sites were provided both safely and comfortably and access to the North Marmara Motorway. .
Shorter travel times, savings in maintenance and operating costs, and reduction of fuel and depreciation expenses were achieved.
