Two Suburban Train Collide In Brazil 1 Dead 8 Injured

In Rio de Janeiro, a machinist died and 2 people were injured as a result of a collision of 8 suburban trains.

It was stated that the accident occurred yesterday at Sao Cristovao station as a suburban train hit another suburban train from behind. Firefighters, who were dispatched to the accident site, were able to remove the mechanic trapped under the wreck after 7 hours. The mechanic who was taken to the hospital lost his life despite all efforts. While 8 of 7 people injured in the accident were discharged after treatment, 1 patient was reported to have a severe condition.

SuperVia, a company operating the suburban rail network, expressed sadness about the accident and said that an investigation to determine the cause of the accident is still underway.
