Minister of Transport and Infrastructure M. Cahit Turhan stated that they are willing to develop the existing cooperation in the transport sector, which both facilitates the development of economic relations and the cultural convergence of peoples.

Minister Turhan, Slovenian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure Alenka Bratusek met with the ministry.

Turhan said that the bilateral trade volume in 2017 was around 1,5 billion dollars, and he sincerely believes that the trade volume with Slovenia will increase further in the coming period.

Slovenia is in a position frequently used by our carriers that do international transportation to Europe as transit countries. Today, we are discussing what we can do to evaluate our current relations in all sub-sectors of transportation with my colleague and at the same time to improve our relations. In the coming period, we will forward our suggestions about legal texts that we can sign for our sector, and we will exchange views. ”

Bratuşek also stated that they have reviewed some issues and said, “We have reviewed some issues in the meeting. We discussed the cooperation issues that can be done in the field of transportation. ” said.

Pointing out that they have good relations in the fields of economy, sports and tourism as well as the political ties of the two countries, Bratuşek pointed out that Slovenia, which has a good geostrategic position, is the transfer point.

Explaining that the Koper Port of Slovenia is also strategically important and a new railway line construction has started in this region, Bratuşek said that the cargo will be transferred to other countries more quickly with the second railway line to the port area. (UAB)
