China Railways Construction Corporation announced the start of construction of the first high-speed train with financing from a public-private partnership. The 266,9 km long railway starts in Hangzhou city in eastern China's Zhejiang province, passes through Shaoxing and ends in Taizhou. The company reports that the tracks are designed to allow travel at 350 kilometers per hour.

For the construction of the project, 44,9 billion yuan (approximately 6,69 billion USD) will be invested and the share of private companies will be 51.

The railway line, which will unite cities boasting the most striking growth of the private sector across the country, is expected to form one of the most important parts of China's railway network. Meanwhile, China is folding its efforts to build the world's most comprehensive and advanced railway network.

According to the government's plan, by 2020, China will have a total of 30.000 kilometers of railways, of which 150.000 kilometers will be high-speed rail lines.
