Special News - Hyundai Rotem 231, the best bid for the tender for the Polish Warsaw Tramway Company operated by the Warsaw Municipality, won the supply of low-floor tram vehicles. The supply of 1.85 billion Zloty (about 430 million euros) from the South Korean vehicle manufacturer will begin soon after 22 months. Also under the contract, all vehicles must be delivered by October 2022.
The 213 brokerage tender was held in September at 2018. The tender came from four companies. CAF and Siemens did not enter the tender due to short lead times, and the consortium of Stadler and Solaris was eliminated due to lead times. Pesa had offered much above average cost.
The Warsaw Tramway Company opened the same tender in 2017 in August and canceled the tender due to the high offer from Skoda.
