Yusuf Deliktaş, head of the Department of Transportation Services of the Metropolitan Municipality of Kahramanmaras, made a statement about the issue and stated that the decision taken by the Transportation Coordination Center (UKOME) will be implemented from the date of 1 February 2019.
Head of Department Deliktaş said in a statement: The most important artery of our city is the Southern Ring Road, which is under the authority of the highways, but it also removes the high density of traffic passing through the city. With the latest arrangements, traffic has been made more fluent, especially in areas such as Ağcalı Junction and Ağabeyli Junction. Accordingly, a speed update was deemed necessary to meet that comfort. According to our traffic law, the traffic speed on city roads and ring roads has been increased up to 82 km with the decision of UKOME. We made a similar application in the city, but the excess of pedestrian crossings in the city did not give us this opportunity very much. For this reason, we did not make any revisions in the city, but we increased our speed limit from 70 km for cars to 82 km on the ring road and our application will be implemented as of February 1, 2019. Our cars that used to drive at 70 on the ring road will have the opportunity to watch these speed limits with 82.
In this way, traffic will become more fluid. This application will only be valid for cars. Our speed limit is 70 km in panel van type vehicles under the middle class automobile, and our speed limit is 50 km in heavy vehicles. We have increased the speed limit in cars because the number of vehicles is very high and also because the mobility is more.
