Kardemir Desires to Build and Operate the Filyos Port Project

Karabük Iron and Steel Enterprises (KARDEMİR) Chairman of the Board Kamil Gulec, Deputy Chairman Ömer Faruk Öz and Board Member Osman Kahveci delegation of the Kardemir, the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Mehmet Cahit Turhan visited in his office. During the visit where Filyos Port Project was dealt with, Kardemir aspired to the superstructure and operation of the Filyos Port Project after the completion of infrastructure investments.

KARDEMİR Chairman of the Board of Directors Kamil Güleç made the following statements regarding the visit.

Orum First of all, I would like to thank Mr. Mehmet Cahit Turhan, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, on behalf of our Board of Directors and the entire family of Kardemir due to their acceptance of our delegation. As is known, the infrastructure investments of a very large port project in Filyos continue. In recent weeks we have personally seen and examined the investments. This port is especially important for Kardemir. Together with the investments to be completed this year, we will move our capacities to 3,5 Million tons. For this production, we need a port where we can get around 8 Million tons of raw materials and finished materials. As it is known, as Kardemir, we have carried out our port operations for the last 6-7, mainly from Eren ports, in line with the capacity allocated to our company. We would like to thank Eren Holding Management for their support to our company. Filyos Port is a must in order to increase our competitiveness in both export and import in line with the capacity increases in our company. This port, which is of great importance for the entire region, will also be the gateway of the entire Black Sea to the world, making our region an important commercial and industrial center and logistics base, and bringing our country one step closer to the regional leadership in the maritime sector.

In this context, while the infrastructure works for the Filyos Port to be commissioned as soon as possible, we have forwarded our request for the contracting of the superstructure simultaneously. After the completion of the infrastructure with the build-operate model of the port of the upper structure and operation of our company forwarded to Karabük said we invited them.

The visit ended with the presentation of a table set consisting of the products of the company by the Kardemir delegation.
