Mehmet Albayrak, President of the Bursa Branch of the Chamber of Civil Engineers (IMO), who discussed the environmental and transportation problems in Bursa, argued that the urban transportation was planned incorrectly. Expressing that one of the important problems of the city of Bursa waiting to be solved is transportation in and out of the city, Mayor Albayrak expressed the following about the solution point:

“Our main goal should be to create and operate an integrated transportation system that prioritizes the transportation of people, not vehicles, and responds to the needs of passengers. Bursa Metropolitan Municipality is preparing the Transportation Master Plan Revision and it is stated that it will be shared with the public after the New Year. As a requirement of our responsibility as a Non-Governmental Organization, we had many researches and suggestions regarding transportation. IMO Bursa Branch is a professional organization with many members who have witnessed the problems experienced in this city and have technical equipment in transportation. However, unfortunately, we cannot share enough information with our local governments about urban problems. Benefiting from the knowledge and experience of academic chambers will benefit our local governments and our city.

While Bursa transportation was reconsidered and radical solutions were processed into the plan, we do not find it right that our Chamber, which has provided important determinations and suggestions so far, and the relevant Academic Chambers are not among the planners. In order to make transportation ergonomic and economical, planned progress of public transportation is necessary. However, the Light Rail System in our city cannot be used efficiently due to the deficiencies in the planning and the changes made. Afterwards, all efforts to increase efficiency continue to bring additional costs to the Metropolitan Municipality's budget. Finally, arrangements will be made for the signaling system by paying a fee of 9.5 million Euros. Can the service we receive by paying such high prices be used effectively? With the arrangement in the system, will it be possible to reduce the voyage intervals from 5 minutes to 2,5 minutes? Despite all our negative warnings, the T2 line built from the City Square to the Terminal; Many new suggestions are made to be effective. Necessary arrangements should be made while the road is close in order not to impose a new problem on the future of the city and not to bring new economic burdens. Conversion of T2 Line to Light Rail System is the most accurate and profitable decision.”

Underlining the fact that the line, TÜYAP Fair Area, the Palace of Justice, Terminal, DOSAB, Ovaakça Neighborhood and the developing Fairground, which will be in service soon, will be carried to bear a large population, President Albayrak stated the following about the T2 line:

“As buses, minibuses, service vehicles and cars move on the same line, the T2 line will already be idle. A more efficient line will be obtained by reorganizing the station in the City Square and making it connected to HRS and by overhauling and reducing the stations on the line. Trams manufactured and purchased for this line can also be redesigned to be used between Görükle and University. After the stadium, when the construction of Ali Osman Sönmez State Hospital is completed; You all know that the traffic jam in the novices will become much worse than the situation they are in today. We are also looking forward to what will be the solution for the Novices in the Master Plan Revision. We hope that, as IMO Bursa Branch, the solution proposals we have presented before have been taken into consideration. We have problems in the country's economy; In these days when we are trying to do business with limited budgets, the budgets of our municipalities remain uncertain for new investments. For this reason, we think that Bursa's priorities should be well-ordered. It is important to give priority to the completion of the investments listed below rather than making a lot of investments that will be left unfinished. Considering the Stadium and Ali Osman Sönmez State Hospital, the first priority should be the completion of all the novices. The second priority is to transform the T1 Line into a Light Rail System and arrange the stations accordingly. The 2rd priority should be the arrangement and integration of transportation to the City Hospital. It will be seen that the problems of the city will decrease if the right planning is made on time instead of experiencing problems in the future.”
