The new decision of Luxembourg, the smallest country in Europe, is the kind that will make everyone jealous. As part of the plans of the coalition government elected under Prime Minister Xavier Bettel, tickets on trains, trams and buses will be removed next summer. The application concerns about 110 thousand people. One study suggested that drivers spent an average of 2016 hours in traffic jams in 33. While the country has a population of 600 thousand, about 200 people from neighboring countries cross the border every day to work in Luxembourg.

This plan of the government actually started to be implemented in the summer. Free transportation was provided for children and young people under the age of 20. Secondary school students used free shuttles to go to school and home. From the beginning of 2020, all tickets will be removed, saving on collecting tickets and supervising ticket purchases. However, there is no clarity yet on what to do about the first and second class sections on the trains.
