BTS Ankara Branch President İsmail Özdemir made a statement to SOL regarding the cause of the accident. Özdemir said that the line was opened early due to the June elections before the two-year line renewal works were completed and the signalization works could not be completed for this reason.

Stating that there are line renewal works between Kayaş and Sincan, Özdemir said, “The number of lines was missing, there were 3 lines, they said 'Let's raise it to 5'. The line was closed to train management in July 2016, the line opened early in April 2018, without waiting for the end of the two-year period. The reason for this was the June elections coming, which opened in a populist way. The line was finished with the laying of the rails. Signaling was not finished. The signaling system had to end where there was such a busy business. As a result of populist policies, the line delivery was made early and temporarily. ”

Stating that which train went from which line turned into chaos, Özdemir said, “As Union, we have made many warnings, but our warnings were not listened to. We lost both our friends and our passengers. ”
