Transport and Infrastructure Minister Cahit Turhan, the Republic's first years after the neglect of the development of railways have turned into a state policy, he said.

Stating that they turned the historical Silk Road into the Iron Silk Road, Minister Turhan stated that this corridor, which was opened last year, will continue to serve exporters and industrialists with freight transportation. Reminding that they liberalized the railways and opened them to competition in order to increase the share and quality of the railway sector in transportation, Turhan added that they are working on projects that will reduce traffic congestion in big cities.

44 MILLION PASSENGER CARRIED WITH HIGH SPEED TRAINS
