In the Democratic Republic of Congo, at least 18 people died and 25 were injured as a result of the derailment of the freight train.

Local government sözcüKingombe Kitenge Benoit said that the freight train moving towards the city of Lumbashi in the south of the country derailed between the cities of Kindu and Kamina in the east of the country and at least 18 people died and 25 were injured in the accident.

Rehema Omari, the station manager in the town of Samba, said that SNCC is headquartered in Lubumbashi, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, and the train is 280 kilometers away from the main city Kindu, Samba, from the south. Omari added that after the accident, the machinist had escaped.

Ilunga Ilunkamba, General Manager of the KDC National Railway Authority, SNCC, announced that the investigation is underway to determine the root cause of the crash.
