Transport and Infrastructure Minister Mehmet Cahit Turhan, the country's maritime fleet capacity of sea fleet compared to the world's naval fleet showed the growth of the 75 7 24 XNUMX hours with the latest technology in the center of the ship traffic can be watched, he said.

Minister Turhan, Bayraklı district in Izmir Vessel Traffic Service and Traffic Monitoring Stations in his speech at the opening ceremony, as well as in the world in Turkey, he said a large part of international trade carried by sea.

Emphasizing that transportation of a product by sea is 3 times more than rail, 7 times more than road and 21 times more than airline, Turhan said, “As a country, we have the most beautiful sea geography in the world. However, it should not be forgotten that we can have the quality of a seafarer country and maintain our presence in the seas to the extent that we can mobilize this potential. In order to realize our potential, we have made great strides in the field of maritime and have become one of the leading countries in maritime. ” said.

Turhan, explaining that at the beginning of Turkey's strategic maritime sector, maritime shipbuilding industry, port services, marine tourism, yachting in areas such as space is a comprehensive industry and service sectors, he said.

Stating that seafaring is not regarded as the development dynamo of the country for many years, Turhan said, “The most concrete indicator of this is that our ships are on the black list for many years. Our ships were not allowed to enter the seas in many parts of the world. We have put our ships on the white list in a short time, we can now enter all the waters and wave our flag all over the world. Undoubtedly, the white list of our ships is the most important reputation indicator of the Turkish flag in the seas of the world. ” used expressions.

Number of shipyards increased to 78

Turhan reminded that they have been applying fuel without SCT for the development of the industry in the country, and that thanks to this support, cabotage transportation has come to life.

Pointing out that the sea trade fleet has increased 75 percent more than world maritime fleets as a result of such moves, Turhan said that the number of shipyards increased to 78 in line with the growth of the sector.

Turhan, the main objectives of all equipment, including the production of at least 70 domestic contribution to ensure the production of the ship by 2023 said they plan to implement this project until the year.

Turhan said that they have established national and regional emergency response centers for fast and effective intervention in marine pollution.

“The number of ships is increasing day by day in the sea as in the air and in the air. This intensity in maritime traffic sometimes results in accidents resulting in loss of life and property. As a result of accidents, we are exposed to major environmental damages. The Turkish Straits Ship Traffic Services System, which monitors and directs the sea traffic we set up in the Turkish straits region, has been serving for nearly 15 years. The importance of this service will be better understood when we consider that 10 thousand ships pass through this strategic region, 43 thousand of which carry dangerous goods. Based on these experiences, we have completed the establishment of the Ship Traffic Services covering the Gulf of Izmit, Izmir, Mersin and Iskenderun. On the other hand, we have also implemented the Ship Traffic Management Center, where a single sea painting was created. ”

Turhan, about 10 years since the automatic recognition system of the country's shore by watching the ships can be traced, 8 years since the distant satellite tracking system of ships in the 8 has been operating since the year recalled.

Noting that the growing structure of maritime, the increase in the ships that use the sea, especially the tanker and dangerous cargoes, impose important duties and responsibilities to them, to strengthen the existing systems and to ensure order in areas where they have the right to rule, and it is necessary to rigorously carry out the precautions and update them according to the conditions of the day. Minister Turhan noted that they reviewed the issues that would pose a risk to maritime safety after the accident in the Bosphorus in April.

61 of 9 ships removed

Turhan said that after the accident, they re-introduced the rules of passing through the Bosphorus and Dardanelles as a ministry and introduced the new safety rules as of September 1, 2018. With the legal change we made, we have given our port offices the authority to refuse, sell or remove these ships. In this context, 61 of the 9 vessels we have been dealing with have been removed from their location, and we will ensure that all of these vessels, which pose a risk for navigation and environmental safety, will be removed from their locations as soon as possible. ” he spoke.

“Ship traffic can be monitored 7/24”

Cahit Turhan stated that Izmir Ship Traffic Systems consists of a center with 12 unmanned traffic monitoring station and equipped with the latest technology and added:

“Our ship traffic can be monitored 7/24. The system covers a site that extends to İzmir, Balıkesir and Çanakkale provincial borders and to the middle of the Aegean Sea. Our 7 different port presidencies in this region provide enough services to cover Aliağa, one of our important industrial zones, with traffic surveillance stations. We are talking about a field where 100 thousand tons of oil and derivative dangerous cargo transportation is carried out every year through the ships with the energy production facilities of industrial organizations, which are of great importance for the country's industry. We do not even want to think about what kind of material and moral damage to the marine accident that might occur in such a strategic region. İzmir Ship Traffic Services System works integrated with the systems in our other regions. In this way, we have reached the opportunity and ability to follow the entire sea painting on our shores more effectively. ”

Turhan added that the data obtained through this system was also shared with other relevant ministries.

After the speeches, Minister Turhan, Parliament Speaker Binali Yildirim, Izmir Governor Erol Ayyildiz, Southern Sea Area Commander Admiral Aydin Sirin, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Prime Minister Sirri Aydogan and the center opened the inaugurated after.
