Minister of Transport and Infrastructure M. Cahit Turhan, Istanbul Airport, planned about all of the previously planned road transport systems said.

Stating that Istanbul Airport is a big project, Turhan said that they have commissioned part A of the first phase of this airport and will take part B into service next year.

Turhan pointed out that the part with the capacity of 29 million passengers was opened on October 90, and stated that the citizens benefited from 5 landings and 5 departure flights at the airport in the first place, 3 of them were domestic flights and 2 of them were international flights.

Emphasizing that landing and departure tests were carried out with guinea pig passengers before the opening of such a large facility, Turhan stated that it was not right to load the entire system suddenly in such large airports, therefore, 10 flights were organized at this airport with real passengers for now. Turhan said, “As of December 31, we plan to move all the landing and departures at Ataturk Airport to the new airport.” said.

In the meantime, Turhan reminded that they have tested all systems as both the operating companies, the ground handling companies and the State Airports Authority, which provides air traffic services, that if there are any deficiencies in electronic systems, these controls will continue, and these controls will continue for two months. He said that they would have opened to all domestic and international services at full capacity.

“The new airport has no transportation problems”

Minister Turhan, the new airport at the moment there is an important transportation problem, stating that the opening of the full 250 thousand people a day here will provide transportation.

Stressing that all of the previously planned road transport systems related to the Istanbul Airport came into play, Turhan continued:

“Hasdal, Kemerburgaz, Yassıören, Subaşı, Çatalca road that provide transportation to our new airport are now opened for service. The third part of the North Marmara Motorway, which is called Kurtköy-Odayeri-Mahmutbey, also serves this airport. TEM Highway, Hasdal, Kemerburgaz, Esenler Junction via Yassıören, Metris Junction European Highway, TEM Highway Arnavutköy are connected to the airport via Habipler. The Odayeri-Yassıören line of the Northern Marmara Motorway was opened with the airport. In the airport area, there is an entrance and exit between Işıklar Junction and Tayakadın Intersection. When the airport is fully put into service, entrance and exit from 3 junctions will not be sufficient. In the future, the number of passengers entering and leaving here will reach 350 thousand per day. We consider the fourth intersection as the Tayakadın Intersection. There will be a separate junction for the cargo station. ”

Turhan stated that the public transportation services will serve here, and 660 units will be D-segment luxury taxis at the airport.

Turhan pointed out that a condition in the airport contract is that the companies engaged in trade and transportation at Atatürk Airport are not victimized, and that these companies will continue their activities by adapting to the build-operate-transfer conditions at the new airport.

Emphasizing that IETT buses will also operate from certain parts of Istanbul to the airport, Turhan said:

“At the end of 2019, we aim to open the Gayrettepe-Istanbul Airport connection. Bus services will be organized from certain metro stations on both the Anatolian and European sides to serve this task. These buses will also take luggage. A luxury road transportation service will be provided. The longest distance fee will be 30 liras here. According to the distance, the average wage was determined as 15 liras. These buses will have an electronic system and internet that can be used by the passengers in each seat. Transportation routes from the east and west were connected to Istanbul Airport very preferentially. ”

When citizens were accustomed to Istanbul Airport and asked if there was a problem at the distance point, Turhan said that such details were considered while determining the location of the airport.

Expressing that the project in question originated from a search in the early 1990s and 2000s, Turhan said, “Istanbul needs a new airport with a high capacity. This had been determined. Istanbul has such potential, blessings, revenues and shares that it will receive from the world civil aviation market. Why can't we take advantage of this? This is an opportunity offered by our geography. ” he spoke.

Turhan; Considering all these, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated that Erdogan has established a strong will, and that the location of the new airport is determined as the most suitable place for air transportation.

“Designed as an aviation base”

Underlining that Istanbul Airport was designed as an aviation base, Turhan said, “The jealousy tried to prevent and sabotage this. Because there is a huge rent here. ” found the assessment.

Explaining that technical services are also a very important source of income in aviation, Turhan also said that the airport is located in the most advantageous place as the transfer point of Africa, Europe, Asia, South Asia and America.

Stating that Istanbul Airport is a living center, Turhan stated that conference halls, hotels, business centers and exhibition areas are among the features of the airport.

Underlining that an architecturally environmentally friendly airport was built, Turhan said, “Everything was reflected in the project with the saving systems in heating, cooling, ventilation, lighting and water use methods.” used the expression.

“It can be reached in 61 minutes from Pendik”

Touching the distance of Istanbul Airport to the city, Turhan said that it is at a more reasonable distance considering the airports in developed countries as well as the domestic airports.

Stating that the settlement in Istanbul shifted north after the Marmara Earthquake in 1999, Turhan said, “The farthest distance is Pendik by public transport. A citizen in Pendik reaches the airport in 61 minutes by luxury buses. ” said.

Turhan pointed out that the passengers who will benefit from the airport will be informed continuously from the moment they leave their homes and 2019 will eventually end the Gayrettepe subway line and 2020 Halkalı Airport subway, the construction of these projects, they will start the construction already said.

“Atatürk Airport pushes the limits”

Recalling the discussions about whether Istanbul Airport is needed or not, Turhan emphasized that Atatürk Airport is currently serving by pushing the limits.

Stating that 500 thousand planes are landing and taking off at Atatürk Airport, Turhan continued as follows:

“If the distance that should normally be between the planes is 10 kilometers, our air traffic controllers reduce this to 7-8 kilometers with the utmost care, and they carry out these landings and take-offs carefully. The issue of fuel is a very important waste. Since it is in the city, the people around are also affected by the noise. The African-Asian countries that we opened were asking for slots, we could not grant flight permits. When you tried to take care of the airport runways, you were encountering risks and troubles. We could not give slots to the countries where our commercial relations developed in the African expansion. Now, there are countries that we have opened up new. ”

Turhan stated that those coming from China and South America will fly over Istanbul, and that Istanbul Airport will collect the humidity caused by this situation.
