The line of the only light rail system of the Black Sea is extended. The route of the light rail system, which is served by 36 trams in 29 stops in Samsun, has been extended by 5,2 kilometers and reached the campus of Samsun Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMÜ).

The efforts to extend the 10-kilometer route of the light rail system built by Samsun Metropolitan Municipality and put into service on October 2010, 30 have come to an end. Samsun Metropolitan Mayor Zihni Şahin said that the light rail system, which is the only one in the Black Sea Region, is one of the city's prestige projects. Şahin said, “The construction of the rail system line within OMU has ended. I suppose it will be operational in February. It is stated to us that the technical system there will only sit on such a track. We plan our works accordingly. The rail system has added great prestige to our city. It provided significant relief and convenience in urban transportation. I think the transportation on this route will become easier with the new section being put into service. ”
