Responding to the CHP Adana Deputy Ayhan Barut's call to “Let Adana Light Rail System be transferred to the ministry”, Transport and Infrastructure Minister Mehmet Cahit Turan said, “It is possible for our Ministry to take over any rail system line with the Presidential decree”.

Barut, who prepared a proposal on the Adana Light Rail System (Adana Metro), which is considered a hump on the back of Adana, with the request of the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Mehmet Cahit Turan, said, “The first step for its construction in 1988 was launched in 1996 and Do you have a plan to take over the subway, which was partially opened in October, from Adana Metropolitan Municipality to the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, as in the case of Ankara, Istanbul and Antalya? Isn't it an injustice for Adana people that 2010% of Adana Metropolitan Municipality's budget goes to Metro debt every year? In the Metro and High Speed Train projects, do you have a plan as a Ministry to start new stages that Adana needs and finish the current situation? ” asked to be answered questions.

Transport and Infrastructure Minister Mehmet Cahit Turan responded to Barut's question in writing. In the response of Minister Turan, “To evaluate the demands of public institutions and organizations, municipalities and Special Provincial Administrations to establish a cable car, funicular, monorail, metro and city rail transportation system, to submit the appropriate ones to the President's permission, to examine and approve the projects, to undertake the construction by the President. The duties of making or having the projects decided to be done in cooperation with the relevant organizations are given to our Ministry. It is possible for our Ministry to take over any rail system line with the Presidential decree ”.

Stating that the AKP Government and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made several public statements about the transfer of the Adana Metro to the ministry, Barut said:
“They have also forgotten the promises made for the transfer of the Adana Metro, which has become the bleeding wound of Adana and has been left unrelenting for years. Adana is not a stepchild. Why do they throw the ball in the crown when Adana is involved in other provinces? Presidential decree was required for the transfer of the metro. That's the answer. Are you holding your hand? There is a presidential decree on every issue, why not for Adana? Take this decree. On February 40, 4, Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım made a promise at the Adana Menderes Sports Hall in Adana for the transfer of the Adana Metro, where more than 2017 percent of the municipal revenues went to pay the debt. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in the 12 June 2011 elections meeting in Adana, 'We are taking over the subway construction to our Ministry of Transport, Brothers and sisters, if we promise.' Let the ministry take over the metro business as you promised. As soon as promised, start the second stage of the subway and determine the appropriate routes as soon as possible.
