In Istanbul, Turkey's first driverless metro 2nd stage Ümraniye - Çekmeköy subway line was inaugurated Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Erdogan cut the opening ribbon of the subway with Ferit Şahenk, the Chairman of the Board of Doğuş Holding, joined the first expedition of the extended line.

Serving as 9 stops between Üsküdar and Ümraniye, the metro increased the number of stops to 16 with the opening of Çekmeköy.

There will be a voyage every 5 minutes on the metro line. Thus, a trip will be made from Sancaktepe to Üsküdar in 27 and Ümraniye in 15,5 minutes.

Üsküdar-Çekmeköy line, which is one of the busiest lines in Istanbul, also facilitated the transition to the European Side. With the Çekmeköy line, it will be possible to reach Yenikapı in 36 minutes, Taksim in 44 minutes, Atatürk Airport in 71 minutes and the Olympic Stadium in 81 minutes.

This line, which will provide serious relief in transportation, is expected to use 600 and 700 thousand people a day on average.

President Erdoğan, Vice President Fuat Oktay and Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Mevlüt Uysal performed the first voyage.
