Within the scope of the works initiated by the People's Republic of China to revive the Historical Silk Road in 2013, the "One Generation, One Road Initiative" project was launched. Within the scope of the project, it is aimed to create a belt that connects eastern countries and European countries that stretch across continents between Asian, European and African countries.
The most important part of the line that will connect the Chinese capital Beijing and the British capital London is the Baku - Tbilisi - Kars railway line section.
