SNCF, the state-owned railway agency of France, has announced that the prototypes of autonomous trains will be produced for up to five years.
According to the French National Railway Company SNCF (Société Nationale des Chemins de Fer Français), the prototypes of freight and passenger trains, which are expected to revolutionize the history of railways, which will be designed as completely autonomous, will be ready until 2023.
SNCF will produce autonomous trains in cooperation with private railway construction companies Alstom and Bombardier. Trains that will perform their flights without human control will be in harmony with each other and will be at the same speed. Thus, it is expected to provide a much smoother railway traffic, thus a regular timetable. The budget for the production of autonomous trains, which will save energy, will be 57 million euros. 30 of this amount will be covered by SNCF, 30 by state and 40 by other partners.
