The new logo of 'Metro Istanbul', which was criticized for its similarity to the logo of the Sofia metro, started to be used. Along with the logo, metro signs in Istanbul will also change. This change will cost about 6 million TL.
The new 'metro' logo, introduced by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality in 2016, has been criticized for being quoted from Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. The metro logo, which was not used by the former Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Kadir Topbaş, started to be used by the new mayor Mevlüt Uysal.
This logo was also used on the Eid al-Adha congratulations, which are claimed to cost 9 million lira and are subject to criticism. Along with the new logo, the metro signs and totems in Istanbul will be renewed with the new logo.
TOTAL 7 THOUSANDS OF 396 CHANGES
Mevlüt Uysal, who came from Basaksehir Municipality, sat in the seat, which was vacated after the resignation of Kadir Topbas. In December, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Facilities Maintenance and Repair Directorate went on to tender for totems and signs. The contract was signed in January with the title 'Purchase of signboards, totems and direction boards for Istanbul-wide municipal service buildings and public buildings'. The company that won the tender will change a total of 7 signs from totems to be used in Istanbul to aluminum direction signs.
SözcüAccording to the report by Bora Erdin, the total cost of this tender was 5 million 430 thousand liras.
THE SAME WITH SOFIA METRO
The name of the Istanbul Metro was changed two years ago and 'Metro Istanbul' was made. However, the logo of Metro Istanbul has also changed. But the new logo was found to be not original. The logo of Metro Istanbul, which was renewed in 2016, turned out to be an excerpt from Sofia Metro. In the new lines opened in two years, the old logo continued to be used. Metro Istanbul, which belongs to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, operating the existing tram, metro, light metro, funicular and cable car lines in Istanbul, has been using this name only in corporate identity since 2016.
