As a result of the investments made by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, İZBAN reached 136 kilometers and İzmir Metro reached 20 kilometers. Total 23 km long put into service Karşıyaka and Konak tramways, the length of the rail system in İzmir has reached 179 kilometers.
Reminding that they started off with a 2004 km rail system in 11, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Aziz Kocaoğlu said, “With the new extension projects and tram investments of İzmir Metro and İZBAN, our rail system line will be able to travel 2020 kilometers in 120 stations by 250. Thus, the rail systems in our city will have grown 23 times ”.
With the commissioning of İZBAN's Bergama line, Buca and Narlıdere connections on the metro, the total rail system network in İzmir will reach 250 kilometers. With these new investments, İzmir will continue to maintain the title of “the city with the most common urban rail system of our country”.
