Energy of Electric Buses from the Roof of ESHOT

İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, which has established a fleet of 20 vehicles full electric bus, meets the electricity required for these vehicles with the solar power plant established by ESHOT on the workshop roofs. With the electricity produced in the power plant, which started operating in August, a saving of 300 thousand liras was achieved; 320 tons of carbon emission into the atmosphere was prevented. Thanks to the fleet carrying almost 1 million passengers in a year, 30 thousand liters less fuel was used in public transportation.

İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, which has a special place among the local administrations with the environmental investments it initiated, also signed a “green revolution” in public transportation. Metropolitan Municipality has brought a new dimension to the steps towards reducing the carbon emission initiated by environmentally friendly ships and rail system projects such as trams, subways, suburbs together with electric buses. With 20 electric buses "serving in Turkey's largest fully electric public transport" bus fleet having ESHOT Headquarters, this self-produced electric vehicles are still running.

The solar power plant built on a total area of ​​10 thousand square meters in the roofs of ESHOT's Buca workshop buildings started to produce energy at full capacity in August 2017. 7 a thousand kilowatts of electricity was produced per month in 650, saving 300 thousand pounds. This production value of the 8 thousand trees a day to filter the amount of 320 tons of carbon dioxide was prevented.

The solar power plant, consisting of 3 bin 680 photovoltaic panels, will produce about 1 million 380 thousand kilowatt electric energy annually. Thus, the average annual emission of 5 thousand tons of carbon will be prevented.

Electric buses from ESHOT are charged at 12 points, workshops, garages and end stops. The electricity produced is also used in ESHOT's workshops and buildings in Buca.

Saving fuel
Thanks to the electric bus fleet carrying nearly 2 million passengers since April 2017, 30, when it was first launched, 448 thousand 788 liters of fuel oil was saved in İzmir's public transportation and 1203 tons of carbon dioxide emissions were prevented. In about a year, 30 thousand 197 trees would be needed to clean the emissions that would be created by fuel oil buses.

In addition, fuel, maintenance, repair and operating costs, which have a significant share in the ESHOT budget, have also begun to decline considerably when the solar power plant is put into operation.

For a beautiful future
Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, which was established under the European Union Commission and whose main purpose is to “encourage and support the use of renewable and clean resources for a world that fights global warming”, was a party to the Metropolitan Municipality in 2015, together with all local stakeholders. By 2020 he had committed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 20 percent. The local administration of İzmir foresees a significant reduction in carbon emissions due to fossil fuel use, with rail system investments and the increasing number of electric buses.
