The Minister of Planning and Infrastructure Pedro Marques announced that the largest 2020-worthy 400 for the railway connection between Évora and Elvas under the Ferrovia 100 Plan will open next month. He underlined that the said link would connect the port of Sines competently to Spain and Europe.
He also stressed that the modernization of the Beira Baixa line between Elvas and the border with Spain and between Covilha and Guarda will start in the next 30 days.
The new railway line between Évora and Elvas will be provided by 264 million of public resources and the remaining by hat Connecting Europe Facility arasında funds.
The ”International South Corridor un, which costs 626 million Euros extending from the port of Sines to the border, is foreseen to be put into service at the end of 2021.
