TUBITAK MAM Project Announced Domestic Electric Locomotive E-5000 national production of electric locomotives in Turkey when it is finished thanks to the traction and control systems designed and manufactured to be the most powerful rail vehicle.
İsmail Aktaş, Head of Transportation Department, General Directorate of Industry, Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology and the accompanying delegation visited TÜBİTAK MAM. During the meeting, chaired by Prof. Dr. İbrahim Kılıçaslan, President of TÜBİTAK MAM, the delegation was informed about the working areas, infrastructure and projects of the Center. E1000 and E5000 electric national outline locomotive projects carried out by TÜBİTAK MAM Energy Institute in the field of railway transportation vehicles and turbine blades and high temperature materials projects carried out by Materials Institute were shared with the delegation.
TÜBİTAK MAM President Dr. Ibrahim Kilicaslan in his speech at the meeting; E-1000 national electric locomotive project successfully completed the E-5000-Main Line National Electric Locomotive Project, said they aim to complete in a short time. Kılıçaslan; 22 is an academician and 140 is an engineer.
The locomotive, which will be produced by TÜLOMSAŞ, a subsidiary of TCDD General Directorate in partnership with TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center and Istanbul Technical University, will have a modern AC driving system and 5000 kilowatt power to meet TCDD needs. It will be able to speed up to 160 kilometers per hour and its prototype will be produced with its design in accordance with the requirements of the European Mutual Operability Regulation.
