CHP Metropolitan Municipality's decision to take the 10 hike percentage of transportation has attracted a great response. Izmir public transport vehicles, stating that they are traveling in Izmir, "Çilemiz further folded," he said

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Council made a 1 percent increase in transportation, effective from January 2018, 10, after the increase in water and parking lot. Citizens who reacted to the increase said, “Let Izmir Metropolitan Municipality improve the service quality in transportation first. We are tired of traveling in the form of a fish hoard in İZBAN. Let them increase the number of trips, then raise them. There are many people living on minimum wage. "Zam will burn the pocket of the citizen" he said.

RET FROM AK PARTY

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Council decided to increase public transportation fees by 1 percent, effective from 2018 January 10, after the water and parking lot hike. In the third session of the Metropolitan Municipality Council held in December, with the participation of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Aziz Kocaoğlu, the transportation hikes accepted in the Plan and Budget Commission were discussed. In the voting, the proposal for a 10 percent increase in public transportation since the beginning of the year was accepted by the majority of votes against the rejection votes of the AK Party members.

Speaking at the session, AK Party İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Council Group Deputy Chairman Bilal Doğan reacted to the 10 percent hike in urban transportation. Stating that they are trying to cover the transportation losses in İzmir with a raise, Doğan said, “The General Directorate of ESHOT and İzmir Metropolitan are torturing the public. While the price hikes for water and parking were rampant, another blow came in the transportation area. There is ulterior motive behind this hike,” he said. Doğan emphasized that there are municipalities in Anatolia that provide the same transportation service but do not make discounts or raises at the expense of transportation.

LOSS OF CITIZENS

Stating that public transportation is the basic service of municipalities, Doğan said: “You will justify the increase in fuel costs or the losses you have incurred from free boarding and the decrease in ticket revenues as reasons. You tried to revolutionize transportation in order to save on fuel costs. You said that we will buy environmentally friendly electric buses. You couldn't do it either. If fuel costs are increasing, then establish an electric bus fleet. You couldn't do it. We have said it every time, we said to find a solution to the consumption expenses and waste of the institution that increase exponentially every year. Why are you billing the people of Izmir for the damage done by the institution?” Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Aziz Kocaoğlu announced that they will go to a new payment model in İZBAN, in addition to a 10 percent hike in transportation starting from the new year.

Kocaoğlu explained the new payment model that will start at İZBAN on February 15, 2017 as follows: “As of February 15, İZBAN will begin to apply a pay-as-you-go pricing method. The money for the full ticket will be deducted from the account. For each kilometer beyond 25 kilometers, an additional fee of 7 cents will be charged for the full ticket, 60 cents for citizens and students aged 65-4, and 5 cents for teachers.” Necla Yalçın, 2, a mother of 60 children who reacted to the hike, said, “We are tired of the price hikes. We cannot have a comfortable journey in İZBAN. And they're making a raise on it. The raise should be withdrawn as soon as possible. The people of Izmir don't deserve this," he said. İnci Çelik, mother of a 67-year-old child, said, “I don't use public transportation much. But my wife and son use it very often. Going from one place to another in İzmir has already become torture. We are in great trouble because of the traffic ordeal. The density experienced in İZBAN is increasing day by day. And they made a raise on these problems. There are people who can live on their house on minimum wage. “Those people should also be considered,” he said. Filiz Karaçoban, a housewife and mother of 1, said, “The new tariff will put everyone in a difficult situation. For a normal citizen, 1 lira or 2 lira is very important money. Considering 1 month, much more money will come out of people's pockets. If these were considered, the raise would not have been made anyway. They should increase the number of trips in İZBAN instead of making a raise. "People are tired of traveling in the form of a hoard of fish," he said. – Source: Morning
